If you've got a choir you need a good conductor
So Brian looked around his little band,
Re-united when she'd come to play her fiddle,
His childhood sweetheart, Margaret, was on hand.
As Music Head at Leeds' prestigious High School (Leeds Girls' High School)
She had a choir of note - made up of Girls
But thought an adult choir would be a challenge
So said, “I think I might give it a whirl!”

There's been a biggish turnover of ladies
They seem to lack a stickability,
The present lot however seem much better -
Rehearsal night is their priority!
But best of all are stalwart Bass and Tenors
The same names reappear year after year
Although they don't all know which part to sing in
They've swapped and changed till absolutely clear!
At Christmastide we went a carol – singing
Round Riverside, the Whartons and the Gills.
Victorian Nights were added to this billing
In draughty courtyards, suffr'ing winter chills.
For ten long years this seemed to be our ritual
Till deemed we'd HAD ENOUGH OF FROZEN TOES!!
Then foolishly, outside again last winter,
We sang at Brewery Wharf - in ice and snow!

We've sung at weddings, Golden ones and Ruby,
After- dinner functions, Workshops two.
At Ladies' Nights, Masonic entertainment,
Day Centres, Mayoral 'do's to name a few.
Most concerts are for charitable causes
Performed in halls and churches, hot and cold!
With varied music of a mix eclectic -
Or so by Tony Nixon we're all told!!
